Sunrise

So the moon was up on one side and sun was rising opposite. Beautiful morning!

Moon

The moon in there in the sky, but the sun was too bright to capture it on film. It looked so cool. (See pic above to see why it was so bright.)

It's definitely easier when your hostel has a terrace with views like this! You can see the top of the obelisco on the left hand side.

Hostel Living

Staying in hostels isn't so bad, although it does take a little getting used to.  However, I have two major complaints.
The first is that people talk way too loud in the morning if they are packing up and leaving.  Now I understand it's a hostel so silence is a luxury rarely afforded, but if you are leaving to catch an early plane or bus you should speak to your travel-mates in a soft voice.  Regular decibel conversation is completely unnecessary, especially with all the zips and crunching of plastic bags that is already taking place.
The second is that if you are trying to catch said early plane or bus and you set an alarm to wake up, be in the damn room to turn it off!!!  If your internal clock is so stellar that you didn't actually need a reminder to wake up, please remember to switch off the alarm so that I don't have to stumble around and find the alarm and shut it off myself.

Thank you,

Party Time

Yeah it's only quarter to 5am, just getting back from the club (yeah I bet it sounds crazy, but that's how it's done here, so deal).  Good times with my two good buds, Rodrigo from Brasil but lives in France and Guillaume, from France.  Plus some Oregonians, Venezuelan, Norwegians and of course some Argentines, como siempre.  Sorry for a lack of pics, I'll try to get some up in the next days.  Just wanted to post something, so y'all know that I'm good and having fun.  Been in BA for a week and a half, I could stay forever but I still have a lot to see.  Need to make my way east to Santiago, Chile and see a new country, haha.

Much love,

Cabalgata

Went for a horse-back ride. The horse was cool, after I got off and walked away to leave he followed and keep nudging me. I gave him a good scratch to say thanks for a good time and good ride.

Bariloche

Good view of some of the lakes around Bariloche

Bariloche - Buenos Aires

Oh boy, it's been awhile since my last update.
I finally made it to the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.  It's a beautiful place.  It is funny though, because it looks a lot like Utah.  With picturesque mountains right near the city.  There are a lot of lakes, so it does switch it up a bit.  I went mt. biking and horse-back riding while I was there, as well as exploring the city itself.  However, I was ready to get out of Utah copy-cat land so I hopped on a 20 hour bus ride to Buenos Aires.  It really wasn't so bad.  The seat's are wide and very padded and soft (no airplane style).  They also recline fairly far back and there's a rest for your whole leg, not just your feet.  3 movies, we got Bedtime Stories, the remake of Escape to Witch Mountain, and RED.  Not the greatest selection, but entertainment enough.  Food as well; dinner was chicken breast, potatoes, shredded carrots and beets, ham and cheese and bread.

There's a little of what's happening for now.

Mt. Fitz Roy

Pretty awesome mountain, when the weather cooperates. Google it to see it in all its splendor.

El Chaltén

Tiny town. The trekking (hiking) capital of Argentina.

Glacier Perito Moreno

This is what I stopped in El Calafate to see. This is Perito Moreno Glacier. It is 5km wide, and what you can see is only 2km of that!! This thing is huge. Pieces break off regularly, it is quite spectacular to see and hear.

No photos, but an update anyways!!

Hiya everybody!!
For the past few days I've been in towns with not the greatest internet so uploading pictures isn't the best idea.  However, my past two days have been really amazing so I figured I'd give you something to read, instead of just to look and marvel at.  Yesterday I was in El Chalten a tiny town (pic will come soon).  It is the trekking (hiking) capital of Argentina.  It is where Mt. Fitz Roy is located, google it to see it or wait for my pics:) Well I was there for 2 nights and the weather was crap the whole time.  On Sunday the 27th I went for a hike anyways with 2 ladies I met on the Antarctic cruise, Deb from Canada and Nicole from Germany. We all put on our waterproof gear and hiked in the rain. On Monday, the first great day, the weather was kind of ok.  It was just super, super windy.  I decided to hike to Fitz Roy because there is literally nothing else to do in El Chalten.  It was a great hike and the mountain looked awesome.  I also did a small arm of the same trail to see Lake Capri, it was great too.  All the water along the hiking is drinkable, but I drank none because why the hell would I?  It was instilled in me early on, to not drink water while hiking because you could get sick.  When I got back to town I still had some time so I went to a nice waterfall that was only 3km away.  Very awesome and worth it.
Then since the weather was bad and not going to improve for the next few days I deciced to go to Bariloche.  It takes 2 days by bus and you go on Ruta 40.  It is one of the lonliest, if not THE lonliest, roads in the world.  That means that there are the fewest stops and stuff to see along the way.  And most of it is just dirt road!!  It looks like they are preparing to pave it, but I got there in time to experience it the original way, dirty and bumpy.  I am in the middle of my journey.  I was on the bus for 12 hours today, awesome;)
Now I am in Perito Moreno.  It is a small town, but a bit bigger than El Chalten.  The bus stops here for the night and continues tomorrow.  It stops at a corner with 2 hotels.  Both are small, one is cheap and one is expensive.  The cheap one filled fast and not wanting to pay the higher rate a few of us looked elsewhere.  We asked some locals for other options.  We followed their directions, but that lead us to a dead end, literally.  There was a small shop on the dead end so we asked them.  The guy running the place told of a cabanya place and called and there was room.  There were 6 of us.  The owner came and picked us up, it was awesome, he had to make 2 trips of 3 people each trip.  We arrived at this tiny cabin but enough beds for the 6 of us.  Turns out we got the best option in town.  Now I am sharing a small cabin with, an Irish couple, Doreen and Darin, a Brazilian, Felipe, a Winsconsonian, Jim and an Oregonian, Ryan.  We had some pizza and now some excellent converstion.  Tomorrow we continue the journey north.  We are all going to different locations.  I am going to Bariloche.  It is a big city so there will be fast internet and I can put up some more pics.
This post is way too long, but I hope you enjoyed it.  More to come.
